The Finger Lakes is known as Wine Country … and more! Since the late 1800’s the wineries have operated in the region, but it’s been since the 1980’s that the renaissance of wines has really taken hold. Add to that America’s interest in food preparation, local food specialties and wine and food pairings and you’ll find the Finger Lakes to be a great culinary destination. The New York Wine and Culinary Centerin Canandaigua is the place to begin your tour. The New York Wine and Culinary center opened in 2006 and provides classes (both hands on and demonstrations) to learn about the wine, food and agriculture of New York State. The center hosts a tasting center for sampling all the wines of New York, a demonstration theater, hands on kitchen, exhibit hall, gift shop and restaurant. The center is open daily and Spring culinary classes are now available.
